The Uruguayan Soccer Pioneer is more alive than ever. On the afternoon of January 26, 2021, the Pioneer won the second leg for the playoff game against Colón FC for remaining in the Second Professional Category of Uruguayan Soccer. The lions prevailed by four goals against zero, added to the first leg, the aggregate closed with a seven to one in favor of Albion. The early goals were converted by Colombian Cesar Taján (3´ PT) with a tremendous mid-distance shot that left Colón's goalkeeper without issue. The second goal was the product of a shot from poronguero Nicolás Brun (16´ PT) placing the ball against the post and directing the long-awaited victory. At (34 'PT) Pablo González appeared to define hand-to-hand in front of the goalkeeper and decree the three to zero in the first half, which gave tranquility to face the second half. In the complement and penalty (76 'PT) came the goal from Melense Franco Garcia, a goal that closed the win and the long-awaited permanence. The team formed with Washington Ortega, Federico Velázquez, Tabaré Da Cunha, Juan Fiore, Lucas Ruiz, Gonzalo Bazallo, Christian Yeladián, Nicolás Brun, Pablo González, Cesar Taján and Facundo Godoy. They joined the complement Franco García, Diego Viotti, Maximiliano Ohaco, Joaquin Arretche and the youth Leonardo Barrios who made his debut in the First Division. We thank our athletes and coaching staff for the dedication and professionalism with which they faced such an important instance for the Club. The Albion turns 130 years old and deserved to compete professionally, where it always should be. We will continue working on all fronts to achieve the goals.
